Allerton Steel completes Bridge fabrication and Installation

Allerton Steel has fabricated and installed Hoobrook Road Bridge.

The main structure consisting of 2 x fabricated beams, each weighing 160 tonnes were lifted in two lifts over 2 days using a 1200 tonne crane. Manufactured from Weathering Steel the complete bridge weighed over 320 tonnes.

The project also involved fabrication of plunge columns which were used to construct the bridge foundations, prior to forming the concrete abutments.

Operating from modern workshops with over 4500sq/m (50,000sq/ft) capacity. The workshops offer a lift capacity up to 60 tonnes and are equipped with modern plant and machinery including semi-automatic welding, CNC operated profile, saw, drilling and milling machines. Additionally, we have a 3D modelling and surveying system to assist with complex fabrications and inspection.

• Welding - MIG, Sub-arc, - High tensile and weathering steels.

• Fabrications up to 40m long & 60 tonne

• In-house machining, 3 no. High Accuracy milling machines. 11m bed, 11m travel 2.5 face up size

• Profiling - 27m x 3m deck. 300mm thickness, bevel and straight cutting. Automatic drilling head

• 60 T overhead crane capacity

• CNC drill and saw line up to 914UB size

• Site welding services

• Proof loading

• Weld test; MPI or Radiography

• Trial fit

• 3D modelling system

• Mechanical & hydraulic assembly
