Amentum launches North East recruitment drive following Jacobs merger

The North East of England’s engineering sector has a new member – Amentum – following the company’s merger with Jacobs’ Critical Mission Solutions and Cyber and Intelligence businesses.
Amentum employs more than 6,000 people in the UK who design, build, maintain and decommission power stations and nuclear sites and work on critical national defence programmes.
This includes nearly 300 people based in Stockton-on-Tees and Newcastle upon Tyne who provide engineering design, safety case, control and instrumentation, and project management support for the nuclear and defence industries throughout the UK.
Current programmes and projects include the construction of Hinkley Point C, support for the UK’s existing power stations, major new decommissioning facilities at the Sellafield nuclear site in Cumbria, and development of new types of small modular reactors to make the UK’s sources of energy more secure and sustainable. The Stockton office also serves the defence and renewable energy sectors and provides procurement, construction support and commissioning services.
Amentum is recruiting about 100 people per month to meet strong demand growth in its main UK markets. Positions it is currently seeking to fill include all major engineering disciplines including control and instrumentation, heating ventilation and air conditioning, chemical, structural integrity and civil as well as project managers, engineering managers and nuclear safety case specialists.
