Assystem acquires UK-based Mactech Energy Group to Strengthen Nuclear Footprint in the UK

Leading global nuclear engineering group Assystem has acquired Mactech Energy Group (Mactech), a leading UK company recognized for its expertise in construction capabilities for the nuclear industry, with a revenue of c.£16m in 2024.

A strategic investment for the future of British nuclear power

The acquisition is a long-term investment in the UKs nuclear industry workforce ahead of the
projected construction of up to 24GW of new nuclear technology in coming decades.

Assystem is making this move to accelerate the construction phase of these nuclear projects that
will deliver the country’s goal of low carbon-power by 2030.

Mactech, a key partner for major nuclear projects

Mactech has supported site-based construction activities on UK nuclear sites for over 37 years and
their unrivalled network of UK-based skilled resources will reinforce Assystem’s capacity to deliver
on the construction aspects of projects in the new build, decommissioning and defence nuclear
sectors.

As a well-established player in the nuclear industry, Mactech will continue to support its nuclear
industry clients at Hinkley Point C, the Magnox fleet, and on SMR projects.

Founded in 1986 by Kevin McFarlane, Mactech is now operating under the direction of Andrew
McFarlane, and following acquisition it will continue to operate as an independent and separate
company, retaining its brand, offices, and market position under the ownership of Assystem
Holding UK.

Christian Jeanneau, Executive Vice President International, Project Management & Digital

in our journey to support the UK’s nuclear energy transition. By joining forces with Assystem,
Mactech is better positioned than ever to create meaningful career opportunities and deliver
innovative, high-value services to our customers. We are excited about the opportunities this
partnership brings and look forward to working together to accelerate progress toward a cleaner,
more sustainable energy future for the UK.”
