Omexom Taylor Woodrow (OTW) joint venture named as an Enterprise Delivery Partner on National Grid’s Great Grid Partnership

Taylor Woodrow and Omexom Joint Venture named as one of seven new industry partners on National Grid’s Great Grid partnership.

Omexom Taylor Woodrow joint venture, trading as OTW, has been successful in being awarded a position as an enterprise delivery partner to deliver National Grid’s Great Grid Upgrade. Part of the Accelerated Strategic Transmission Investment (ASTI) framework, this major electricity transmission upgrade is required to move more clean energy across the country to help the UK achieve its net zero ambitions, is the largest overhaul of electricity grid in generations.

OTW joins six other supply chain partners onto the Great Grid Partnership (GGP) which will provide an initial £9 billion worth of network infrastructure design and construction by 2030 and will begin to focus on nine major onshore electricity transmission upgrades in England and Wales. It will help the UK reduce its reliance on fossil fuels and make sure the electricity network is fit for the future, carrying more clean, secure energy from where it is generated to where it is needed.

Taylor Woodrow’s role within the ASTI framework means it is one of the key firms within the National Grid’s pioneering ‘enterprise model’ responding to the UK supply chain and skills shortage. The partnership aims to support supply chain capacity and foster collaboration across best practice and skills, delivering benefits for consumers and the wider UK economy contributing an average of £18.4bn to GDP and support around 220,000 jobs each year between 2024 and 2035.

Phil Skegg, Managing Director, Taylor Woodrow, comment: “We are not only excited but highly motivated to be playing such a key role in enabling the energy transition in the UK as we strive for Net Zero. Congratulations to all those involved, a fantastic result.”

The combination of expertise from Taylor Woodrow, and Omexom, specialist in the design and construction of electricity infrastructure, responds perfectly to the needs of the Great Grid Upgrade.

This partnership epitomises VINCI’s ability to synergise two of its subsidiaries, each offering distinct services, to effectively tackle vital infrastructure initiatives in support of the energy transition.
