Scarab4 - Sector Specific PR and Marketing Agency Delivers Successful ‘Groundbreaking Event’ for JDR Cables’ New £130m Subsea Cable Manufacturing Facility in Cambois, near Blyth, Northumberland

Scarab4, the UK’s first full-service marketing agency to deliver services into the energy supply chain, has announced the delivery of a successful Groundbreaking ceremony for industry leading subsea cable technologists, JDR Cables - part of TFKable Group, celebrating the company’s investment in its new, state of the art £130 million subsea cable manufacturing facility in Cambois, near Blyth, Northumberland.

The groundbreaking ceremony marked the start of construction on the site which will take JDR Cables to a new level, providing capacity to develop longer-length, higher voltage cabling. The proposed facility will bring more technically advanced jobs to the region, estimating 171 jobs will be created. Furthermore, the new facility, expected to be complete by 2024, will contribute to the UK target of 40GW of offshore wind by 2030 and support the UK to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.

The ceremony – which was attended by hundreds of stakeholders from across the region and the UK - was hosted inside a luxurious marquee on the site of the new cable manufacturing plant and included speeches from ministers, investors, and regional VIPs.

Not only was its vast experienced in event management that appealed to us, but it was also the real added value the team brought to the table, supporting us in what could and couldn’t be done on a construction site and even liaising with our chosen contractors to make construction changes to enable the event to successfully take place.

“The level of planning on this event was huge and Scarab4 made absolutely sure that every element of it – from set up to risk assessments, event management and co-ordination, travel and hospitality was all of the absolute highest standards demanded and associated with JDR Cables.”

The event comprised months of planning for the Scarab4 and JDR teams with Scarab4’s linear process, from site surveillance to full management on the day, successfully implemented.
