Siemens Gamesa installs 15MW prototype

Siemens Gamesa has completed the installation of its 15MW offshore wind turbine prototype at the Oesterild test site in Denmark.

The SG 14-236 DD unit was installed on time, despite challenging weather conditions.

The manufacturer has several projects lined up that will potentially use the latest platform.

In January 2023 RWE has selected the SG 14-236 DD turbines for its 1GW Thor offshore wind project in the Danish North Sea.

The development will feature 72 of the turbines. Each unit will have 236-metre diameter rotors, as well as 115-metre long blades.

RWE has also named Siemens Gamesa as the preferred supplier of turbines, from the 14-236 DD platform, for the 350MW FEW Baltic 2 offshore wind farm in the Polish Baltic Sea.
