World Class IRATA Ropes Training Launches on the East Coast

Exciting news for NOF members. Member company ‘Total Solutions Direct Ltd’ and its Training subsidiary ‘Total Training Direct Ltd’ has an ambitious strategy, a major part of which is forming strategic industrial partnerships with high calibre, like minded organisations. The first long term Industrial Partnership agreement was signed earlier this year with ‘Redcar & Cleveland College’, and ‘Total Training’ latest strategic partnership sees it join forces with ‘Lowestoft College’ through its ‘East Coast Energy Centre’, with bookings for its first full IRATA Rope Access training courses starting 15th June 2020 now being taken.

The world class Lowestoft ‘East Coast Energy Centre’ facility boasts a high specification ropes training rig for individuals and companies to train upon, all with the backing of both partners and their long established and high performing records and infrastructures.

The Covid19 Pandemic meant temporarily delaying the promotion of training courses. However, having worked hard to develop and implement stringent risk assessments, processes and social distancing measures which exceed government Covid19 guidelines, the partnership is now firmly up and running.

Any companies or individuals wishing to learn more or make a booking should contacting Dom McAskill via dom@total-solutions-ltd.com or 01642 646068 in the first instance.

  • Enhancing the initial partnership offering
  • Providing multi-disciplined and skilled personnel for the demands of the region
  • Providing leads into job opportunities and sustainable job outcomes for delegates within the relevant sectors
  • Upskilling existing workers in the oil, gas, renewables, and related sectors

The initial rope access offer and plans to add to this

The partnership has can already provide Ropes Awareness and full IRATA Rope Access training courses from Level 1 through to Level 3 delivered during 5 Day Courses including an independent assessment by an IRATA approved Assessor. Training is carried out using the high specification climbing tower, brand new equipment, high specification classrooms and associated facilities within the brand new, world class Energy Centre.

The rational for opening the East Coast centre

Whilst there is uncertainty and concern about what the post Covid19 Pandemic employment landscape will look like, the UK leads on renewable and wind energy and is at the forefront of ensuring an infrastructure that meets domestic, industrial, and commercial demand.

Renewables provide nearly a third of UK power in the UK and half of this is generated by from wind energy so generation from onshore and offshore wind in the UK are central to the shift to an energy system fit for the future.

Offshore wind cost continues to fall, and it is now one of the lowest cost options for new power in the UK, and with billions being invested in offshore wind in the UK during, this investment supports thousands of jobs across the UK in manufacturing, project development, construction, and operations. With a major cluster of operators in the East Coast region, and many of the technicians the world employs trained in the UK, it made perfect strategic sense to partner in the region.

Working closely with employers and other key stakeholders

As a responsible and high-quality Training Partnership, we place our stakeholders at the heart of all we do.

We are working with employers and others to ensure they get the best possible support in accessing and helping shape the further development of our world class Centre and its training.

The intention is to ensure companies benefit from the best of a high-quality Private Training Provider, operational trade access business, and highly respected College with collective staff, facilities, courses, and access to funded training infrastructure.
